Fishing cats are in trouble because their habitat is rapidly disappearing. Wetlands are endangered in many parts of Asia and in other parts of the world as well. From 2008 to 2016, fishing cats were classified as Endangered by the IUCN. During 2016, they were reclassified as Vulnerable.
Fishing Cat is a medium-sized wild cat of South and Southeast Asia. Since 2016, it is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. Fishing cat populations are threatened by destruction of wetlands and have declined severely over the last decade.
